    Description

This fabulous brass pin is centered by a crowned  figure with 4 arms seated in the lotus position. The figure is somewhat
androgynous, but looks more male than female.
There are a number of 4 armed deities in the Hindu religion, but there are also some that are Buddhist and even a few that are Sikh. They can be differentiated by the figures that appear with them or by the objects that they hold in their hands or in the position of the hands. This figure is holding a cylinder, a metal loop, and a loop made to look like rope - a goad or whip perhaps. The remaining hand is in a pointing position. No deity that I found matched these items. The body is raised from the surface, and green glass fills bezels to form the body and face. The molded face has visible features.
Some of the green glass has a crackled appearance.
The skirt or loincloth is a bezel with empty compartments formed with wire - I do not know if it once held stones or glass. Below the figure is a bar of pearly white stone or shell, and a speckled pink oval stone is below that. Behind the figure are loops of wire, and 2 flowers made of rough turquoise stones and pink stones that are likely coral. More turquoise stones are bezel set around the edge of the pin - they are rough, and many do not fit well in the bezels - a dark medium is visible around them and holding them in place. The pin is large 2 1/4 inches across at the widest and just under 2 1/4 inches high. The pin looks hand made and some of the bezels are not perfectly formed. A striking, unusual and beautiful pin!
