    Description

Wixarika, as the Huichol living at the Sierra Madre Occidental call themselves, are a well know race for their artistic sensibility and their profound spirituality. Also, they have hardly fought to maintain their identity against any other foreign influence.
Talented Huichol artists hand made these colorful art pieces which are representations of their individual experiences in their sacred Peyote and Copa de Oro rituals (Hikuri and Kieri in their language) part of the Huichol's religious practices.
This original piece of folk art work comes from the Wixarika’s community living in the northern side of Jalisco, Mexico. Their towns have no water, no electricity, their homes are brick houses no bigger than rooms of 4x4 meters and sometimes to go to the nearest town for supplies have to walk 4 to 5 hours.
All the bead products made in this region are made with original glass beads from the Czech Republic, instead of the plastic beads made in China. The goverment of the state of Jalisco imports these glass beads and supplies the Huichol communities, so they can work with the best material available since the glass beads are no longer made in Mexico.
Approx. 4 inches long x 1 inch wide (ear wire not included)
