    Description

You are bidding on a very cool snapshot in time... so to speak. Perhaps THE most hailed Bruce Springsteen tour of his career was the 1978 "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" tour. So many legendary shows (Winterland, The Roxy, Madison Square Garden, Passaic, etc.) and stellar moments (radio broadcasts, incredible covers, etc.). The bootleg world soon defined 1978 as the sweet spot for Bruce Springsteen.
While going through all my old vinyl bootlegs recently, a small envelope fell out of one of the record jackets. I had never seen this before, and had no idea it was tucked inside. Not even sure how long it had been in my possession, but I started collecting in 1985, so who knows. Anyway, what was inside the small envelope was a single frame photo negative. Kind of hard to tell at first what it was, but as soon as I held it to light, I knew! It was a candid concert shot of Bruce! I was able to get the negative digitized and have prints made up. Although not perfect in regards to color, contrast, etc... what it turned out to be is a very identifiable moment from ANY 1978 show. The shot is of Bruce wading through the crowd with his right arm raised to the air... microphone in hand. Yep... this was taken during a rendition of "Spirit In The Night"... more specifically, when Bruce sings, "So we closed our eyes and said GOODBYE...", with the last word being joined in on by the entire crowd as he holds out his mic. A CLASSIC MOMENT, and someone snapped it from the risers.
It's hard to determine the exact show this is from, but based on the hair, the sideburns, the jacket, and the "Spirit" moment... it's definitely from the Darkness tour. Curiously, from the left hand side, it looks like a fan is attempting to pass along a bouquet of flowers during the close encounter.
All in all, this is a really cool candid shot that has never been seen before and would make for a nice addition to your Springsteen scrapbook. This 5" x 7" print that I am offering is professionally printed on FujuFilm matte paper. ORIGINAL NEGATIVE NOT INCLUDED - PHOTO ONLY.
