Just unpacked from a box that had been packed away some 25-30 years ago comes this great pink candy dish & cover in the Princess pattern of Depression Glass. The Princess pattern was manufactured by the Hocking Glass Company from 1931-1935. I always thought that the Hocking patterns were the prettiest in Depression Glass and I had collections of Cameo, Mayfair, and Princess. I identified this pattern in the book "Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass" by Gene & Cathy Florence (copyright 2004, 16th edition). I was quite surprised to see that the price for this candy dish back in 2004 was .00!! The green version was listed at .00 so that shows that the pink version is more difficult to find than the green. After 30-35 years of buying and selling glass, I can attest to that. This particular candy dish is in great condition with no major chips, no cracks, no discoloration. There is very slight roughness around the lid when you run your finger around the edges - but no more than any other lid I've ever felt! The outer edge of the bottom of the candy dish is in excellent condition and the inner edge is really remarkably clean with only one tiny, tiny chip - I have pictured it but it is kind of miniscule. You never see it with the lid on - and barely with the lid off. I cleaned the entire dish but with this type of glass, you could take a Brillo pad and really scrub. There is some dirt embedded in the lid but it will come out. This is a great piece and you will be very pleased with it. The lids are getting very difficult to find. Please see the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase. The style and shape of the candy dish is very, very ART DECO!! The pattern Princess itself is also a bit Art Nouveau with the scrolls, flowers...
