Our Lady of Guadalupe Carved Wood Batea Dough Bowl Retable Mexican Folk Art 7"Gorgeous, hand carved and hand painted solid wood batea dough bowl, hanging retable, from Mexico.
Traditionally, batea bowls are used for kneading bread. All of the ingredients are mixed in the bowl, kneaded and left to rise in the batea. The wood holds the heat that was produced by the yeast.
