Early and rare pictorial yarn painting by an unknown Mexican Huichol artist. Circa 1970's.
Dyed yarn & beeswax on a masonite board, Unsigned. Commercial label and packing printing on the reverse of the masonite (from it's prior use as crating panel).
A fine Huichol yarn painting depicting Mayan Priest riding an Iguana or lizard. The Priest is holding a knife and there is an animal at his back. Both the Iguana and the Priest are wearing ceremonial headdresses. Very thin, fine twined wool yarn was used to make this piece, giving the image great detail and depth.

Good condition with light wear and soiling. This piece is almost 50 years old and the edges and corners have wear. Please see photos for condition.
