Huichol (Mexican indigenous tribal group) beaded jaguar. This is a nice good-sized jaguar. As you can see, it barely fit into my lightbox. Approximate dimensions are 11-3/4" long x 4-1/2" high x 4" wide. The base on this piece is resin and the beads are placed individually into beeswax that covers the resin. The images on the jaguar are typical of the work of the Huichol including images of the peyote on right and left flanks.
