    Trusted, Inspired, Educational & Fun
The Milky Way Galaxy Star Crystal Cube with 3D Laser Etching Technology
    3085058
An Exquisite Combination of Art, Science, and Technology
Own a true collector's item, created by Bathsheba Grossman - an internationally renowned artist, who uses laser beams to create works of art. Each pulse of the beam passes freely through the glass except at its focal point, where the concentrated energy causes a tiny fracture. These microscopic sparkles catch the light, forming a permanent design floating inside the crystal.
These impressive crystals are available in two models - The Milky Way Galaxy and The Star Map (3085059). The Galaxy Crystal is a cosmic paperweight modeled after views captured at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The bright stars along the spiral arms, the delicate disk, and the strongly barred core are drawn here as they look from intergalactic space. The Star Map Crystal outlines our cosmic neighborhood, 10 light years to the inch. Enjoy a 3-D map of all stars within 5 parsecs of the sun.
The Star Map also ships with a key describing each star and symbol. Both models feature clear rubber feet, to avoid scratches on your desk or mantel. Without a stand, it works best against a dark background. The Galaxy Model is sized at 3 ½" square by 1 ¾". The Star Map measures 3" square.
