Up for sale is a truly rare piece of NHL history. In the 2010-11 season, Carolina Hurricanes rookie sensation Jeff Skinner took the NHL by storm by smashing franchise records and becoming the youngest All-Star in pro-sports history. In the following offseason, Jeff would win the coveted Calder Memorial Trophy as NHL Rookie of the Year. For the first half of his inaugural season, Jeff wore the same skates he donned in his last season with his junior team, the Kitchener Rangers. Now, you can own those skates.
For many years, the Carolina Hurricanes allowed the public to purchase discarded used gear from their equipment management team at the Rec Zone, the local ice skating rink where the Canes practiced at that time. Local Raleigh celebrity and assistant equipment manager Jorge Alvez sold these skates from that facility as soon as they were made available. They have been in my collection ever since. It's time they are passed on to another fan who will appreciate them for the significant items that they are.
