Description
Huichol Yarn Painting Art Signed Mexican Folk Art Wall Hanging Shaman AngelHuichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico. 100% authentic, beautiful, multi-colored yarn painting, or Neirika, handmade and signed by native Huichol Indian, Iginio Bautista Bautista, Niuweme, in Mexico. His work has been featured in the Temurikita Art Gallery in Italy and honored at the Plaza Caracol, Mexico.
Using the traditional Huichol techniques of adding Campeche beeswax onto a board and pressing (one-by-one) pieces of yarn into the wax, this bright yarn painting depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
The central focus of this colorful yarn painting is the Shaman spiritual angel child, protected by Father Sun.
The angel is carrying the Shaman ritual feathers, God's eye arrows (protection of the children) and the Shaman prayer bowl
gourd.
Metallic silver yarns on the angel's face, wings and body add beautiful highlights.
On the back is the artist's signature. Note, as he was autographing this piece for us, his pen ran out of ink so he used a ballpoint pen to add his Huichol name.
Measurements: 11.75" x 11.75"
Lovely gift for a new family with a child or a Huichol collector. Niuweme's work is unique.
