Huichol Collectible Beadwork Folk Art

Description

Huichol beaded dog or coyote with peyote, corn and deer.
The Huichol Indians live in Nayarit and Jalisco, Mexico and have perfected this art of hand carving a wooden replica, hand coating it in bees was and then placing intricate designs from tiny-tiny beads one by one from a tiny sewing needle.
Traditional Huichol designs include the peyote button, a symbol of life, health, success and good luck, the deer-a spirit guide that lead the Shaman on his journey to knowledge, and the double headed eagle representing the shamans omnipotent powers.
This piece was purchased c25-30 years ago at The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Dealers Judith Anderson and Jesse Hendry supply Huichol artists with 42 colors of Chech glass beads, using very fine beads making this a real artist made collector work of art.
Please note this piece has been stored in tissue in a neutral cardboard box out of heat and sun. Due to the delicate nature, a few beds may have come off. We have taken lots of photos both to show the objects beauty and to highlight any blemishes. Please study these to satisfy yourself of its condition.
