    Description

Huichol Beaded Wolf Dog Figurine Mexican Handmade Indigenous Folk Art Sculpture
Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
Absolutely gorgeous, green, neon green, lavender and red micro glass beaded, resin/fishbone mix, dog head figurine.  Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this wolf dog depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.  We love how this Huichol artist used rich red faceted rhinestones for the dog's eyes.  His eyes are captivating!
Kumukemai, the wolf, carrier of the spirits, is honored in every Shaman Peyote ceremony.
Many Huichol people believe they are descents of the wolf-people in earlier times and some of the Shaman believe they have the ability to possess the power of the spirited wolf.
This dog or wolf head is designed with some of the more important Huichol symbols.
His (or her) head is tilted slightly to his right and his ears, forehead, nose and mouth are all sculpted.
His bright red rhinestone eyes and bright red beaded mouth accents the fact that wolves and dogs are known for their excellent sight and very strong jaw.
The most important symbol, the double headed eagle, Duality of the Gods, is between his eyes and ears and accented with red beaded eyes on both eagles.
Many Peyote flowers, the symbol of life and success, adorn this wolf and the Mother of the Corn monitors the rain that is gathering in the green beaded waves in the lavender beaded soil.
Unique and an original piece of Huichol art.  This sculpture has a metal wall hanging attachment on the back.
