    Description

Huichol Beaded Giraffe Figurine Mexican Handmade Folk Art Spirit Animal Sculpture
Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
This giraffe, or jirafa, sculpture figurine is gorgeous and 100% Huichol folk art.  The spirit giraffe is thought to bring luck and protection.  It holds it's head up high and rises above.
Beautiful blend of colored micro glass beads:  blue, lavender pearl, pink, black, red, orange, white, tan and platinum gray pearl.
Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this resin/fish bone sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this jirafa depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
We love how the Huichol artist used platinum pearl color beads to outline the symbols and add real sparkle to this gentle creature who seems to being reaching up to the Gods.
His head is tilted up as if reaching to the sky and his horns, ears and back are 3D sculpted.
He has vibrant God's Eyes (protection for the children) eyes.
The corn, for health and prosperity of the people, grows under his neck with a black, white and platinum color strong stalk.
On his mane, another stalk of corn grows with clear bronze beads down the center.
Next to his mane is turquoise color scorpions protecting the pink pearl Peyote flowers and repelling bad luck.
The artist used blue, tan and lavender peyote flowers down the sides of his mane with one group of flowers in the shape of the God of the Ocean (the serpent) to bring rain for the crops.
At the bottom of his neck is three sparkly pink pearl Peyote flowers, honored by the Shaman for giving influence to the Gods, communication with ancestors and messages about the future crops, rain and healing of the people.
The pink pearl scorpions protect the half Peyote flowers at the bottom.
Unique and an original piece of Huichol art.
