    Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
    Beautiful, authentic,
    Huichol
    multi-colored
    glass beaded, hand carved, unpolished ironwood cat figurine.  Handmade by Mexican Huichol Indian
    Librado Carrillo Carrillo.  Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this kitty cat sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this pretty and playful cat depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.

    Symbols are very important for communication by the Huichol.
    On a clear neon orange beaded background we see some of the most important symbols outlined in metallic pink, baby pink pearl with neon pink centers and neon pink.  Librado's use of the clear neon orange colors really makes the symbols look 3D!
    His cute face has accents of pink pearl and metallic pink on his big round eyes and mouth.
    His perky ears are made of all pink pearl with neon pink centered beads.
    On both sides of his hind legs are beautiful peyote flowers for life and success.
    His chest has a large eagle for freedom and a snake curls around his neck for protection.
    The back of his head is adorned with a gorgeous metallic pink Messenger Deer, the ultimate messenger to the Gods.
    We love how Librado turned some of the beads sideways for extra sparkle.
    Note:  The metallic and pearl beads are more valued by the Huichol and cost double compared to the regular beads.
