Huichol Beaded Art Whale Figurine Mexican Hand Carved Ironwood Handmade Folk ArtHuichol art is so unique and all handmade by the indigenous Mexican Indian people of the Sierra mountains in Mexico. This whale sculpture is made of hand carved ironwood. The artist used the traditional Huichol technique of coating the sculpture with Campeche beeswax and then, one-by-one, adding micro glass beads. The Huichol do not use any type of pre-made pattern and they rely on their symbols to create the offering messages to their Gods.
This gorgeous whale is made of all red and black glass beads. Red is the fire, the east and signifies masculinity. Black is the earth and growth.
Several brilliant Peyote flower symbols bless this whale. We love how the artist used the peyote flower symbol for his eyes. Peyote is important for the Shaman during their religious ceremonies for predictions and talking to the Gods for prosperity of the people.
Down his back and tail a long stalk of corn is growing and outlined with rain for growth.
We love his unique haute couture design with two primary colors.
Beautiful gift for a Huichol collector.
