    Description

CATRINA Groom Huichol Beaded Art Figurine Mexican Folk Art Day of the Dead
Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous Indian people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
Absolutely handsome, authentic, elegant light turquoise blue, black, black pearl and metallic silver theme glass beaded, Day of the Dead, Catrina Groom (Catrin) clay sculpture figurine.  Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this Day of the Dead Catrina groom depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
Dressed in a striking tuxedo, with bright color beaded accents, this Catrin portrays a proud and elegant pose.
His traditional style jacket with coat tails has a beautiful Peyote flower on his right sleeve and a scorpion (protector of the Peyote) on his left sleeve.  On the front, a metallic silver tie is the candle symbol for lighting his way to the ceremony.
His cummerbund is full of rain colors to feed the Peyote and provide hydration for his family.
His pant legs have a corn symbol and a gorgeous God's Eye to protect his future children.
On the back of his jacket is a Mother of the Corn symbol for growth and reproduction.  Also, the Messenger deer head is receiving good graces from the Huichol Gods.
His tuxedo shoes are embellished with black elegant beads for dancing at his wedding.
His head swivels from side to side for different poses and is detachable.
We love his Day of the Dead face and his black tuxedo top hat with turquoise Peyote flower hand band.
The symbols used on her tuxedo make him seem as if he is preparing for his special day in a most elegant way.  Gorgeous!  See the matching bride in our ebay store.
