CATRINA BRIDE Huichol Beaded Art Figurine Mexican Signed COA Day of Dead 11.5"HAuthentic Mexican Huichol Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous Indian people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
Absolutely gorgeous, elegant red black theme, glass beaded clay, Day of the Dead, Catrina Bride sculpture figurine. Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this Day of the Dead La Calavera Catrina depicts the offering message. Handmade by the talented Mexican Huichol Indian artist, Isaias Bautista Carrillo, Turatemai, in Mexico. Isaias' designs have that
haute couture
elegance and we love how he turns some of the beads sideways for extra sparkle.
This sculpture is signed by the artist and a COA, certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, is included
.
Dressed in a gorgeous beaded strapless bridal gown with clear gold, pale lavender pearl, red, gray pearl and ivory bead accents, this Catrina portrays a sassy and elegant pose while holding her delicate bright red and green peyote flower beaded bouquet. Her mermaid style gown, ruffled at the bottom, has many important symbols for her special day.
Father Sun, brings her warmth and energy for successful crops. A large corn stalk, providing food for her family is vibrant and rooted in the healthy soil. A large Peyote flower is surrounded by Mother of the Corn, the ultimate creator. The Messenger Deer brings blessings from the Gods and rain nourishes the soil.
Her gorgeous long veil, in 1920's clouche headdress style, is black with gray pearl accents. A young stalk of corn symbolizes her youth and the Messenger Deer beneath her veil gives protection and messages for her new marriage. Her head is detachable and we love her neon orange eye shadow and fingernails.
The symbols used on her gown and veil make her seem as if she is preparing for her special day in a most elegant way. Gorgeous!
