    Description

This is a rare ORIGINAL 1970 flyer promoting a concert by Rock Legend BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.   This flyer promotes a September 11th, 1970 outdoors concert by his early band "Steel Mill" at the "Clearwater Swim Club" in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.      Size is 8.5 x 11"... see condition description... it is over 50 years old.   Admission was .50!!  Originally obtained from Bruce's "First Fan" and later his personal assistant, Obie Dziedzic, who collected all N.J. music memorabilia and attended this show.
This is the most famous concert by Springsteen before he was signed by Columbia.  "Steel Mill" was very popular in 1970 and often drew several thousand people to their shows.  At this show, the city had a specific curfew time when the band was supposed to stop.  Of course, Bruce played past this curfew and the police "pulled the plug" on their electricity.   The band managed to "plug back in" and continued to play.  This infuriated the police and they rushed the stage with clubs flying... it turned into a full-blown "hippies vs. pigs" riot.   There were many arrests, and somehow a large amp fell onto one of the police... the police said it was intentionally pushed onto the cop by Federici... he escaped the riot and there was a warrant issued for his arrest due to the "assault".   Because of this show, "Steel Mill" got a reputation as "trouble", and cities would no longer let them have these large outdoor concerts.  They broke up four months later.
At this time, the band consisted of Bruce Springsteen, Danny Federici (organ),  Steven Van Zandt (bass), and Vini Lopez (drums)... (as seen in the second photo).    For this show, Lopez was detained in Richmond VA, and Dave "Hazy Davy" Hazlett played drums.   An historic concert by Springsteen's most popular early band.    Guaranteed authentic and original from 1970.    An excellent piece of EARLY Springsteen memorabilia, perfect to matte/frame and display.      Payment due within four days of the auction's closing.    An ebay "Power Seller" -- Please see my PERFECT FEEDBACK -  OVER TWELVE HUNDRED (1,205+) feedbacks... 100% positive!!
