    Description

From an African craftsman/woman a hand made, hand beaded figure or doll, of a obviously young woman with very large breasts.
A fertility doll perhaps? These were created to symbolize a young woman coming of age and ready to bear children.
Or it could simply symbolize a woman with big breasts!
Various tribes including the Namji of Cameroon- created such dolls. Originally the dolls were unadorned- a symbol of purity. As the young lady entered puberty, the doll was then adorned to symbolize fertility.  This is more of a piece of art- as it is not a true doll, as it does not have legs. I have seen these dolls with the cone shaped body and those that look like a true doll. Often these dolls were given to a young girl as a toy and later adorned.
This one is different- The big breasts are unusual, I would dare to say rare.
They are also used as good luck charms not just a decoration and were often a family heirloom.  A ritual practice that is very decorative and attractive.
No two pieces are ever the same.  I do not know which tribe created this work of art - to me I believe it to Namji. I can not confirm it is a fertility doll as I have never seen a fertility doll with such big breasts- this is a first! I can not confirm the real meaning, I am only speculating- you, the buyer will know more than me!
She is quite tall- approx 32" or 2'8". Very beautiful.  Made from beads, fabric, wire and shells. There is no base or stand and I do not know if this particular doll would have ever had one.
Would consider shipping internationally, but please ask for quote first as you will be paying the cost.
